Desmond Ridder, born on 31 August 1999, is a quarterback with the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (NFL). Before being taken in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons, he played college football at Cincinnati, where he was twice voted AAC Offensive Player of the Year.
Ridder was awarded the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Week for the second time in his career after No. 7 Cincinnati upset No. 9 Notre Dame on the road. Ridder completed 19 of 32 passes for 297 yards and two touchdowns. In addition, he carried for 26 yards and scored the game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter as the Bearcats ended Notre Dame’s 26-game home winning run.
The Atlanta Falcons selected Ridder in the third round (74th overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft. He was the second quarterback taken in the draft, following Kenny Pickett’s selection by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round.
